Hey there, I’m Melinda, a Graphic Designer and Artist.
Ms Sinda is a name given to me by my Grandfather, from the nursery rhyme ’Ms Muffet’ that he adapted, personalised and sang to me when I was young. The poem stuck with me into adulthood, and I felt it was the perfect name to renew my connection to the art of play and creation from my childhood.
Graphic Design has been a great creative outlet and my source of income over the last 10 years. I enjoy the planning that comes with design, but I love the unstructured spontaneity and freedom of artistic play. Ms Sinda is a place where my love of both art and design comes together. I use my design experience in process and planning, paired with the freedom of artistic experimentation and exploration.
There is something magical in the creative process. Pushing through the uncomfortable, making space for mistakes, and the absolute awe of witnessing an idea plucked from your mind and manifest into something tangible. It’s inspiring and altogether satisfying.
My work involves a multitude of mediums, from textiles and painting to collage and illustration; I have many creative interests and intend to experiment with every one.
I have spent too much of my design life glued to a computer, and so my goal is to move away from digital creation. I want to use my hands and take my work analogue, to feel the physical presence of something I’ve created and see the piece interact with the world.
